B reather Hose installation Note
• Position the marking on the oil hose side facing up
and install it.

Selector Cable Installation Note
1. Install the selector cable to the cable bracket.
2. Install the clip to the selector cable.

3. Connect the selector cable to the manual shaft
lever.

1. Remove the drive shaft and joint shaft. (Refer to
0 5 -1 7B TRANSAXLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
[GF4A-EL].)
2. Remove the oil seal by using a screwdriver.
3. Tap the new oil seal into the transaxle case by
using the
SST.

4. Install the drive shaft and joint shaft. (Refer to
0 5 -1 7B TRANSAXLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
[GF4A-EL].)
5. Using the
SST
and a hammer, tap the new oil seal
in evenly until the SST contacts the transaxle
case.
6. Coat the lip of the oil seal with ATF.
-0 .5 —0.5 mm {-0.02—0.02 in}

W arning
• W hen the transaxle and ATF are hot, they
can badly burn. Turn off the engine and
w ait until they are cool before rem oving
the control valve body.
1. Clean the transaxle exterior thoroughly with a
steam cleaner or cleaning solvents.
2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
3. Drain the ATF and engine coolant into separate
containers.
4. Remove the splash shield.
5. Remove the oil cooler hose. (Refer to 0 5 -1 7B OIL
COOLER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [GF4A-EL].)
6. Remove the radiator hose. (Refer to 01-12
RADIATOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
7. Remove the control valve body cover and gasket.
8. Disconnect the solenoid connectors and transaxle
fluid temperature sensor connector.
