FUEL REFILL ISSUES
DESCRIPTION
Fuel tank does not refill smoothly
POSSIBLE
CAUSE
Clogged evaporative emission pipes
Non-return valve malfunction
Pressure regulator malfunction
Improper use of fuel gun
Inadequate fuel refilling speed
Warning
Following troubleshooting flow chart contains fuel system diagnosis and repair procedures. Read
following warnings before performing fuel system service:
• Fuel vapor is hazardous. It can easily ignite, causing serious injury and damage. Always keep
sparks and flames away from fuel.
• Fuel fine spills and leaks are dangerous. Fuel can ignite and cause serious injuries or death
and damage. Fuel can also irritate skin and eyes. To prevent this, always complete “ BEFORE
REPAIR PROCEDURE” and “AFTER REPAIR PROCEDURE” described in this manual.

Retrieve and record any continuous memory,
KOEO and KOER DTCs.
Are there any DTCs displayed?
Yes
Go to appropriate DTC text.
No
Go to next step.

Remove fuel filler pipe.
Make sure that the non-return valve is
installed properly.
Inspect the non-return valve operation,
o - 0 1 -1 4 NON-RETURN VALVE
INSPECTION
Is the non-return valve okay?
Yes
Check follows:
• Improper use of fuel gun.
• Inadequate fuel refilling speed.
• Fuel tank pressure control valve.
No
If the non-return valve is installed improperly:
Reinstall the non-return valve to the proper position.
If the non-return valve does not operate properly:
Replace the non-return valve.

FUEL REFILLING SHUT OFF ISSUES

Fuel refill does not shut off properly.

CAUSE

Non-return valve malfunction
Fuel shut off valve malfunction
Fuel gun malfunction
Fuel gun does not insert correctly
Warning

Replace the non-return valve.
