Access Probes
The parameters in the "Access Probes" section control the access channel transmis-
sion of the AT under test. The AT transmits access probes to begin session negotia-
tion, which may also occur at times other than the power on cycle (for example, after a
session close). It also transmits access probes to initiate a call. Access probe transmis-
sion is described in standard 3GPP2 C.S0003-E; the numerical parameters in the
Access Parameters Message in standard 3GPP2 C.S0005-E.
Some of the "Access Probes" parameters require the Enhanced Access Channel Pro-
tocol. This protocol is used if network revision A or B is active.

Access Probes
Specifies whether the R&S
CMW acknowledges or ignores access probes from the AT.
●
Acknowledge
: Normal operation, needed for successful session negotiation and
connection setup.
●
Ignore
: The R&S
CMW does not acknowledge the access probes, forcing the AT
to send repeated access probes. The access probe power is exclusively controlled
by the open loop rule; hence it possible to test open loop power control of the AT
using an additional power meter.
