The signal at the output connector is limited to the maximum level stated in the data
sheet. When the settings result in a signal exceeding this limit, the output power is
decreased automatically.

Output Power
Displays the total output power including the AWGN power level.

Expected Power Mode
Configures the input path of the RF analyzer according to the expected output power of
the MS under test. The R&S
CMW assumes a 9 dB peak-to-average ratio (crest factor)
of the received CDMA2000 signal and calculates an additional reserve. For an expec-
ted RMS input power of x dBm, powers exceeding (x + 9) dBm can be measured.
The selected value defines the algorithm which the R&S
CMW uses to configure its
input path. The R&S
CMW controls automatically the input level according to the
expected power of the MS transmitter output signal.
●
Manual
: Assume that the MS transmits at the power level configured via the
parameter "Manual Expected Power".
●
Open Loop Rule
: Assume that the MS transmits according to the open loop power
rule: The sum of the mean input power at the MS receiver plus the mean output
power at the MS transmitter is maintained at a constant power offset:
<input power> + <output power> = <power offset>
The power offset depends on the band class; see standard 3GPP2 C.S0057-D.
●
Max Power
: Assume that the MS transmits at its maximum output power (RMS
value
≤
+23 dBm; see table below).
●
Min Power
: Assume that the MS transmits at its minimum output power (RMS
value
≤–
47 dBm; see table below).
The "Expected Power Mode" does not affect the actual output power of the MS which
is controlled by the "Reverse Power Control" settings. To avoid overloading/underload-
ing the RF analyzer (and thus losing the connection), the settings must be compatible.
Some simple examples for compatible combinations are listed below.
