4.2.11 Service Options
The CDMA2000 standard supports the concept of service options on the physical
channels. Service options allows various voice and non-voice services to be defined
and to be specified independently within the confines of the physical layer and the mul-
tiplex sublayer interface. Each service option is identified by a unique service option
number to facilitate proper processing within the network and MS. Service option num-
bers may be used for standard services, as well as for proprietary (nonstandard) ser-
vices.
The R&S
CMW offers speech and loopback services for testing. To find out which ser-
vice options the currently connected MS supports open the "MS Capabilities" view on
the GUI or use directly the corresponding SCPI commands:

Speech Services
The R&S
CMW supports the voice services 1, 3, 17, 68, 70, 73 and 0x8000.
Speech services are used to place a voice call to the MS. Modulation measurements
and the other TX tests may run slower in speech service since the MS signal may not
be using full rate.
TX Measurements
TX measurements depend on the Reverse Radio Configuration (R-RC) of the MS. In
general O-QPSK measurements require a R-RC 1 or 2, whereas H-PSK measure-
ments require a R-RC 3 or 4.
Service Option 1
Service Option 1 provides a variable rate, two-way speech service to the MS using the
Forward Fundamental Code Channel with Multiplex Option 1. The Service Option 1
meets the requirements described in 3GPP2 C.S0009.
The FCH can be configured as follows:
●
FCH sets the radio configuration to use for the Forward and Reverse Fundamental
Channel (F-FCH-RC and R-FCH-RC). The Multiplex Options (F-FCH-MO and R-
FCH-MO) are not selectable; they are set to 1 by the Service Option 1 selection.

Service Option 3
Service Option 3 known as EVRC-A provides an enhanced variable rate, two-way
speech service to the mobile station using the Forward Fundamental Code Channel
with Multiplex Option 1. This service option communicates at one of three channel
rates corresponding to the 9600 bps, 4800 bps and 1200 bps frame rates. The corre-
