NOTE: If the sensor has been removed from the

engine for testing purposes, immerse the sensor body
(only up to the threads) in automatic transmission fluid
and slowly heat the fluid. The ohmmeter must indicate
the above resistances when connected between the
sensor terminal and the sensor body/chassis.

Testing Coolant 

Temperature Warning 

Light

NOTE: Prior to testing the warning light, verify that

a 10-13V DC power supply exists from the white/blue
wire at the main/console connector and to the plug-in
at the gauge.

1. Remove the torx-head cap screws securing the con-

sole to the steering support; then move the console

out of the way.

2. Temporarily insert a jumper wire to the white/blue

wire from the console wiring harness connector at

the gauge to any convenient chassis ground (or any

brown wire).

3. If the coolant temperature warning light is not illumi-

nated with the engine running (and the harness termi-

nal grounded), test the light bulb. An ohmmeter must

read less than 10 ohms across the bulb filament.

4. If the bulb does not illuminate even when tested

good, use the ohmmeter to test the bulb harness. Also

test the red/white wire continuity from the tempera-

ture sensor connector to the bulb connector.

Testing Fuel Gauge

1. Remove the torx-head cap screws securing the con-

sole to the steering support; then move the console

out of the way.

2. With the meter selector set to the DC Volt position,

connect the red meter lead to the gray wire of the

connector plug-in (at the gauge); then connect the

black meter lead to a chassis ground.

3. With the rear of the snowmobile on a shielded safety

stand, run the engine at 2000 RPM.

4. Meter reading must be within 10-15V DC at the

gauge.

Testing Fuel Gauge 

Sender

1. On the F-Series/T-Series/Z1, remove the torx-head

cap screws securing the console to the steering sup-

port; then move the console out of the way.

2. On the CFR/Crossfire/M-Series, remove the close-

out panel.

3. Disconnect the fuel gauge sender unit from the main

wiring harness.

NOTE: On the CFR/Crossfire/M-Series, test from the

black/red two-wire connector. On the F-Series/T-
Series, test from the two gray wires in the four-wire
connector.

4. Connect the ohmmeter leads to the two sender wires.

5. Compare the reading to the chart following.

Testing Electric Fuel Pump 

(2-Stroke)

1. Remove the torx-head cap screws securing the con-

sole to the steering support; then move the console

out of the way.

2. Disconnect the fuel pump sender four-wire connec-

tor from the main wiring harness.

3. Connect the positive lead of a 12-volt power supply

to the red wire and the negative lead of the 12-volt

power supply to the black wire.

4. The pump should operate (it would be heard run-

ning).

NOTE: If the fuel pump fails to operate, reverse the

test leads at the fuel pump connector allowing the
meter to run in the opposite direction. This will verify
that nothing has entered and/or obstructed the pump.

Testing Electric Fuel Pump

pump/level sensor four-wire connector and unplug

the connector.
