Simple Versioning
Retains the specified number of versions
•
Retained versions
: Retains versions until the
specified value is reached. Older versions are
removed to make space when necessary.
The maximum number of versions is 65536.
•
Retained days
: Retains versions created within
the previous specified number of days. Older
versions are removed to make space when
necessary.
The maximum age of retained versions is 3650
days.
Smart Versioning
Retains a backup created during a time period for a
specified length of time
Examples:
•
Retained hours
: 24 - At the end of every hour,
the earliest backup created that hour becomes
the hourly backup. The backup is retained for 24
hours and then removed.
Hourly backups can be retained for up to 87,600
hours.
•
Retained days
: 14 - At the end of every day, the
earliest backup created that day becomes the
daily backup. The backup is retained for 14 days
and then removed.
Daily backups can be retained for up to 3,650
days.
•
Retained weeks
: 5 - At the end of every week,
the earliest backup created that week becomes
the weekly backup. The backup is retained for 5
weeks and then removed.
Weekly backups can be retained for up to 520
weeks.
•
Retained months
: 11 - At the end of every
month, the earliest backup created that month
becomes the monthly backup. The backup is
retained for 11 months and then removed.
Monthly backups can be retained for up to 120
months.
