Oscillator Circuit (OSC)
The oscillator circuit, a Pierce oscillator, is designed to work with both an external crystal
/ resonator or an external stable clock source, consists of an inverting amplifier with
XTAL1 as input, and XTAL2 as output with an integrated feedback resistor.
External Input Clock Mode
When supplying the clock signal directly, not using an external crystal / ceramic
resonator and bypassing the oscillator, the input frequency needs to be equal or greater
than PLL VCO input frequency (the value is listed in the Data Sheet).
When using an external clock signal it must be connected to XTAL1. XTAL2 is left open
(unconnected).
