2.5.1.1 Measurement Example 1 – Displaying the AF of an AM signal in the time
domain
Test setup:
Settings on the signal generator (e.g. R&S SMIQ):
Measurement with the R&S FSP:
1. Set the R&S FSP to its default state

Press the PRESET key.
The R&S FSP is in its default state.
2. Set the center frequency to 100 MHz and the span to 0 kHz
➢
Press the FREQ key and enter 100 MHz .
➢
Press the SPAN key and enter 0 Hz .
3. Set the reference level to +6 dBm and the display range to linear
➢
Press the AMPT key and enter 6 dBm .
➢
Press the RANGE LINEAR softkey.
4. Use the video trigger to trigger on the AF signal in order to obtain a
stationary display
➢
Press the TRIG key.
➢
Press the VIDEO softkey.
The video trigger level is set to 50% if the instrument is switched on for the first
time. The trigger level is displayed as a horizontal line across the graph. The
R&S FSP displays the 1 kHz AF signal stably in the time domain.
Frequency: 100 MHz
Level: 0 dBm
Modulation: 50 % AM, 1 kHz AF
