11) Remove the crankcase from the cylinder block.
14) Check that the piston is at the bottom dead center of its
compression stroke.
If not, turn the crankshaft to bring the piston to the bottom
dead center of its compression stroke.
15) Remove the connecting rod nut, and remove the
connecting rod cap assembly.
16) Check the connecting rod bearing for damage (scores,
scratches, etc.), and replace it with a new one if necessary.
17) Remove the connecting rod bearing from the connecting
rod cap.
• Store the connecting rod cap and the connecting rod
bearing separately by the cylinder.
12) Check each main bearing for damage (scores, scratches,
etc.) and replace it with a new one if necessary.
13) Remove the four main bearings from the crankcase.
• Store the removed main bearings separately by the main
journal.
