12) Apply marine grease to the inner surface and outer surface
of the water tube grommet, and install it on the water tube.
13) Install the water tube in the oil case.
14) Install the exhaust pipe gasket and the exhaust pipe in the
oil case, and tighten the 8 x 25 mm flange bolt to the
specified torque.
TORQUE: 26.5 N.m (2.7 kgf.m, 20 lbf.ft)
15) Fill the oil case with the engine oil (P. 3-4).
16) Install the following parts.
- Extension case/lower rubber mount (P. 11-52)
- Gear case assembly/extension separator [Semi-long/
extra-long shaft types only] (P. 11-5)
- Engine cover (P. 4-2)
17) When the engine is started after assembly, be sure to start
according to the starting procedure after assembling the
engine (P. 2-4).

9) Clean the exhaust pipe in the areas shown thoroughly
using a shop towel and degreasing cleaning solvent
[Long/semi-long/extra-long shaft types only].
10) Apply sealant (ThreeBond
®
#7781 or equivalent) to the
inside of a new O-ring.
Install the new O-ring on the exhaust pipe as shown.
11) Apply beads [3.0 - 7.0 mm (0.12 - 0.28 in) thick] of liquid
gasket (ThreeBond
®
#1207B or equivalent) to the indicated
area of the exhaust pipe [Long/semi-long/extra-long shaft
types only].
• Assemble within 20 minutes after application of the liquid
gasket. If the parts have been left unassembled for 20
minutes or longer, remove the old gasket and apply a
liquid gasket again.
• Do not fill the oil case with the engine oil and do not start
the engine for 15 minutes after assembly.
