• PINION GEAR SHIM
1) Install a new 25 x 47 x 15 mm bearing on the vertical shaft,
and install the special tool on the vertical shaft as shown.
• Check that the special tool is set on the vertical shaft
securely. There must be no wobbling in the tool.

2) Clean the tapered surface of both the vertical shaft and
pinion gear thoroughly using a shop towel and degreasing
cleaning solvent.
3) Install the pinion gear on the vertical shaft and tighten the
12 mm special flange nut to the specified torque.
TORQUE: 75 N.m (7.6 kgf.m, 55 lbf.ft)
• Use the special tool (Spline shaft holder, 16 x 14 x 1 mm)
to tighten the 12 mm special flange nut (P. 12-38).
4) Measure the gap (E) between the special tool and the
pinion gear. Determine the tolerance using the following
formula and record it.
Formula: E - 0.5 = Tolerance
Example:
When the gap (E) between the special tool and the pinion
gear is 0.7 mm (0.03 in):
0.7 - 0.5 = 0.2
The tolerance is +0.20 mm (+0.008 in).
