Media Encryption
This field appears only if the Media Encryption over IP feature is enabled. It specifies one of three
possible options for the negotiation of encryption. The selected option for an IP codec set applies to all
codecs defined in that set..
NOTE:
The initial default value for this field is none when the
Media Encryption Over IP
field in
the Special Applications screen is enabled (y) for the first time. If this field is n, the
Media
Encryption
field on the IP Codec Set screen is hidden and functions as if none was
selected.
Packet Size (ms)
A display-only field showing the packet size in milliseconds.
Silence Suppression
Enables RTP-level silence suppression on the audio stream.

Advanced Encryption Standard (AES), a standard cryptographic
algorithm for use by U.S. government organizations to protect
sensitive (unclassified) information.
Use this option to encrypt these links:
•
Server-to-gateway (H.248)
•
Gateway-to-endpoint (H.323)

Avaya Encryption Algorithm. Use this option as an alternative to AES
encryption when:
•
All endpoints within a network region using this codec set
must be encrypted.
•
All endpoints communicating between two network regions
and administered to use this codec set must be encrypted.
none
Media stream is unencrypted. This option prevents encryption when
using this codec set and is the default setting when Media Encryption
is not enabled.
