MESSAGE WAITING FOR SYSTEMS NOT USING THE VP 300 TO CONTROL
MESSAGE WAITING INDICATION
This test verifies correct operation of message waiting notification for systems not
using the SX-2000 feature access codes to control message waiting indicators.
A. Set phone B to forward to the VP 300 on a busy condition by dialing the feature access
code for Call Forwarding – Busy followed by the VP 300 access number. After setting
forwarding for phone B, leave phone B off-hook so that it appears busy.
B. From phone A, call out and back in on a trunk that auto-terminates to the VP 300.
C. Does the VP 300 answer properly?
NO

☞
If the VP 300 is equipped with IntraMessaging, you may prefer to use the Quick
Message feature to leave a message for phone B instead of following the
instructions of step D and step E.
D. Dial the extension number of phone B. After the duration specified by the PBX System
Option for Call Forwarding Don’t Answer Time-out, the VP 300 should respond,
“Extension EXT-B is in use. Please leave a private message at the tone, dial another
extension number, or dial zero for assistance…”
E.
Leave a test message for phone B. While recording the message, put phone B back
on-hook.
☞
A message is not delivered to a mailbox unless it is at least 4.5 seconds in
length. The mailbox for phone B must be entered in the VP 300 USER Table or
the VP 300 does not offer to take a message
F.
The VP 300 should now initiate a message waiting notification call to phone B. Does
the VP 300 call the extension associated with phone B?
NO
