11.3
INSTALLATION
This chapter provides detailed installation instructions for the DAC, including:
• Ordering the DID or special service trunks from the service provider (CO or vendor).
• Entering the configuration information into the VP 300.
• Configuring the DAC printed circuit assembly for loop-start or ground-start options. DID trunks
are normally configured for loop start. Outgoing PBX trunks may be configured for either loop
or ground start, although ground start is preferred.
• Installing the DAC. Since the DAC is hot-pluggable, the system need not be powered OFF to do
this. However, the VP 300 must be restarted except when a DAC card is pre-configured in the
SLOTS Table.
The DAC is not allowed in slot A12. Connecting the DAC I/O panel cable to slot A12 will
produce a direct short across the -48 VDC power supply.
• Installing trunk wiring. All trunk wiring to the DAC is through DAC I/O panels. These panels
provide the required -48 VDC power feed.
Do not connect the DAC I/O panel to slot A12.
•
Testing and enabling trunks.
■
Trunks
DID or special service trunks must be ordered from the local telephone company or service
provider. These trunks should be installed up to the demarcation point by the telephone
company or service provider. The wiring from the demarcation point to the DAC I/O panel and
the VP 300 should only be performed by service personnel who are trained and certified by VP.
DID trunks may be available with DTMF or rotary address signaling. If DTMF signaling is
available, it should be requested.
The signaling type is usually optional. The DAC supports wink, immediate, and delay-dial
trunks. When available, request wink start. Immediate start trunks should only be used when
wink start is not available.
■
Configuring the VP 300
Refer to the
Toshiba VP System’s Configuration manual, for specific table configuration
instructions. The following configuration tables for the VP 300 are affected by the DAC.
•
Define the INFORMATION Table in the standard way.
•
Define the SCHEDULE Table in the standard way.
