Installation using sub-attendant message waiting indication
For extensions using MWI, only the use of Call Forwarding – Don’t Answer is
recommended, because when a phone forwards immediately, the VP 300 cannot turn that
phone’s message waiting indicator ON or OFF. Refer to Mitel SX-200 Digital Limitations
and Applications, in this section.
COS option 253, the Call Forward – Don’t Answer Timer, must be set to one greater than
VP 300 INFORMATION Table Index 7, RINGS BEFORE NO ANSWER. This ensures
that the VP 300 can still perform screened transfers to a ringing extension that has been
forwarded on ring-no-answer.
•
Operation of MWI requires that stations with message waiting indicators be assigned a
COS with COS Option 232, MESSAGE WAITING SETUP — LAMP, enabled. Stations
that do not have message waiting indicators must not be assigned COS option 77.
☞
Stations that are to have message waiting indicators controlled by the VP 300 must
be connected to line cards in the Mitel SX-200 Digital that support message waiting
lamps.
•
For Generic 1003 only, stations that have been assigned a name in CDE form 09,
STATION/SUPERSET TELEPHONES, must have the station extension number included
in the name according to the format described in Naming Conventions at the beginning of
this section. Individuals using Superset 4s can change the programmed name from the
Superset 4 itself. Any changes to the programmed name must fit this format.
Obtain a printout of station extensions that includes each station’s assigned COS and a
printout of all COS that have been assigned to station extensions. Use this information to
check that mailbox holders are assigned the COS options necessary to use the features
described above.
