PBX Functional Limitations that Affect CPI
The following are limitations that affect Called Party Identification.
■
Caller Identification
Caller identification differs among the various Mitel SX-100 and SX-200 Analog software
release revisions. These differences are outlined below for Generic 217, prior to Revision
12 and for Generic 217 for any revision.
If the VP System is using COV Voice Mail port message waiting
indication, the call processing ports must not use the COV Voice
Mail port class of service option.
Generic 217,
• The VP 300 receives no called party information for a trunk call
prior to
forwarding from a station on busy-forward or all-forward. The
Revision 12
VP 300 receives only the trunk number and therefore answers
with the greeting designated for that trunk. This is a problem for
any DID installation since forwarding on busy is required for call
coverage.
• The attendant, or any person using an exension, must wait about
one second before releasing a trunk call to a phone that forwards
immediately to the VP 300. Otherwise, the call appears to the VP
300 as a direct external call.
Generic 217,
• The Superset 4’s programmable name (up to ten characters long)
any revision
can be programmed only at the phone itself, not in the PBX
configuration. Each Superset 4 must either have no programmed
name, or have a programmed name that includes the mailbox
number. This is a requirement for each Superset 4 that will have
full CPI functionality.
• Members of hunt groups cannot have any type of forwarding on
their phones without removing themselves from the hunting
pattern. This is a restriction of the PBX. It can be worked around
by giving hunt group members two extensions, one in the hunt
group (not forwarded), and a personal line (forwarded). This
requires an additional port in the PBX. If the hunt group members
do not have multiline phones, it also requires an additional
phone.
• When a Superset with busy forwarding has its outgoing only line
in use, an incoming call on another appearance of the Superset
line forwards to the VP 300. Without busy forwarding, these lines
could receive calls on other line appearances while the outgoing
line is in use. This is a restriction of the PBX. It can be worked
around by using a separate extension for outgoing line. This
requires an additional port in the PBX.
• When all VP 300 ports are busy, a call can forward on ring-no-
answer or busy tone. This is because the Mitel SX-100/SX-200
