Hard Disk Restore for Release 5.3 and Earlier
These procedures provide the steps to restore a system where —
•
The VP 300 is configured as a one-disk system and the hard disk needs replacement.
•
The VP 300 is configured as a multiple-disk system and both of the system disks need
replacement.
Action VP 300 Description and Response
Preparation
Back up greetings, names, scripted and sequential messages, and
Personal Distribution List names.
Refer to the Backup and Restore of Greetings, Names, Scripted and
Sequential Messages, personal Distribution List Names, and Prompts
section in this chapter.
Replace the Hard
Disk
1. Turn OFF the power Allows the hard disk drives to spin down to a complete stop before you
to the VP 300. begin to work on the system.
2. Remove the hard disk(s)
to be replaced.
3. Install the replacement Refer to the MAINTENANCE chapter, Hard Disk Drive (HD)
hard disk(s). Replacement, for Hard Disk Replacement procedures.
Boot the System
4. Make sure the Release 5
Software Diskette #1 is
write-protected.
5. Insert the Release 5
Software Diskette #1 into
the Floppy Drive (FD).
6. Adjust the baud rate of
the terminal/teleprinter
to 300, 1200, or 9600
baud.
