SUPERSET LINE EXTENSION NUMBER CHECK
This test verifies that the PBX extension numbers assigned to the MIC ports match
the corresponding extension numbers in the VP 300’s SLOTS Table, and also tests
that each MIC Superset extension can perform a screened transfer to another
extension.
A. Label the single line telephone with a message waiting indicator as phone B. Label the
other single line telephone as phone A.
B. Connect a Superset 4 to the 25-pair cable assigned to the first MIC port of the VP 300
hunt group.
C. Connect phone B to the 25-pair cable for the analog extension that is configured with
Call Rerouting.
D. Connect phone A to the 25-pair cable for the other analog extension.
The tests that follow will refer to the extension numbers of these phones as EXT-B and
EXT-A, respectively. The message waiting indicator on phone B must be OFF before
proceeding with testing. If the indicator is ON, cancel the message waiting condition
before continuing.
E.
From phone A, dial the extension number of the first MIC port. Does the Superset
ring?
NO
➧
Determine the cause and correct the problem before continuing.
F.
Answer the call on the Superset, and verify the circuit quality. If the quality is bad,
determine the cause and correct the problem.
G. Press the TRANS/CONF softkey (this should appear as softkey 3) to initiate a transfer.
If the softkey does not appear, the Superset extension may be configured incorrectly in
the PBX configuration. Correct the problem before continuing.
H. Check for stutter or solid dial tone after pressing the softkey and check that the label
CANCEL appears over softkey 5. If neither is present, correct the problem before
continuing.
I.
Dial the extension number of phone B. Before the Call Forward No Answer Timer
expires, press the CANCEL softkey to reconnect to phone A. Does phone B stop
ringing? Do you get reconnected to phone A, which was on hold?
NO

Hang up phone A and the Superset 4. Connect the Superset 4 to the RJ11 jack of the
next the VP 300 MIC port extension and repeat steps D through H until every MIC
port extension has been tested.
3.

initialize the Superset 4.
B. Make sure phone B is off-hook so that it appears busy.
