Beginning with Release 7.1, the VP 300XL may be configured with four-port and eight-port line cards in
any combination to support between 32 and 96 ports. Refer to the
General Description, PRODUCT
DESCRIPTION, VP 300 Sizing, for additional information.
■
Line Interface Card (LIC)
The Line Interface Card (LIC) provides a computer-controlled interface to the PBX extensions. Each
LIC has four ports or eight ports (Release 6.1 and later), which connect to PBX extensions via 25-pair
cable. The LIC is FCC part 68 registered. The LIC contains necessary circuitry for ring detection, dial
tone detection, and signal power measurement allowing automatic gain control from 0dB to 24dB of
gain for recording messages. There is one DTMF sender for every four ports and one DTMF receiver
for each port. LICs contain a yellow LED for each port to indicate port activity.
An LIC has four or eight (Release 6.1) identical ports. Each cabinet can contain a maximum of twelve
LICs that can occupy slots A1 through A12. A system may contain a maximum of 64 ports. Beginning
with Release 7.1, the 300 XL system may contain a maximum of 96 ports.
■
Telemarketing Line Card (TLC) (Release 6.1 and later)
The Telemarketing Line Card is an eight-port line card. It differs from the LIC because only the first
port of the TLC located in slot A1 can record. The seven remaining ports of the TLC in slot one are
play-only ports. All other TLC ports in the system are play-only ports. When recording is attempted on
other ports, the VP 300 prompts "Messages may not be recorded at this time. No storage is available."
The first TLC must be installed in slot A1. Standard line cards can be installed in slots beyond the TLC
cards. A VP 300 at Release 6.1 and later may contain a maximum of 64 ports including TLC and LIC
ports. The TLC is FCC part 68 registered.
■
Direct Access Card (DAC)
The Direct Access Card (DAC) is an optional four-port interface card. When used in place of the
standard LIC, the DAC allows direct connection of incoming DID or outgoing PBX trunks. Direct
Access Cards may occupy slots Al through A11. The DAC requires an external –48 VDC power
supply unit (PSU) and a rear-mounted DID I/O panel.
■
Fax Application Processor (Release 7.1 or later)
The Fax Application Processor is a fax card that transmits and receives fax messages for the optional
VP Fax Mail feature. The fax processor contains one or two four-channel fax daughter boards and
supports up to eight simultaneous fax transactions with both daughter boards installed. It supports
communication with CCITT Group 3 fax machines. The fax channels operate at transmission rates up
to 9600 baud.
Each cabinet can contain a maximum of six fax cards, up to 48 fax channels. Fax cards are hot-
pluggable and can be installed in slots A1 through A12 in the VP 300 cabinet.
The Fax Application Processor requires no cables. The 50-point connector associated with the slot in
which the fax card is installed is not used.
