[Integral ABS] Replacing brake

fluid in the front control circuit/
bleeding

•

Remove reservoir cap with rubber diaphragm
from the handlebar fitting.

•

Draw off old brake fluid and clean the reservoir.

e

Attention:

When adding brake fluid, do not allow it to enter the
holes for the reservoir lid screws.

•

Refill the reservoir to the

MAX

mark.

e

Attention:

During the process, ensure that the return
bore (arrow) is always covered with brake fluid as
otherwise air is drawn into the brake system.
Bleed the control circuit again if this happens
(

•

Shift the handbrake lever to position 4.

Warning:

When performing maintenance and repair work on
the BMW Integral ABS, avoid rapid and forceful
pumping of the brakes.

•

In sequence, bleed the:

–

Filler adapter (1),

–

front dosing cylinder (2),

–

front integral circuit (3)

–

front control circuit (4) and,

–

again, front dosing cylinder (2)

bleed the system in accordance with instructions for
bleeding.

Regulations for bleeding:

1. Pull the brake lever slowly until the brake light

switch clicks (snifter hole closed).

2. Open the bleed screw.
3. Pull the brake lever fully and close the bleed

screw.

4. Release the brake lever slowly.
5. Repeat steps 1 to 4 until the brake fluid is

clear and has no bubbles.
