Filling and charging the battery
Remove the battery

Warning:
Battery acid is highly caustic.
Protect your eyes, face, hands, clothing and the
paintwork.
•
Remove the seat.
•
Take out the tool wallet.
•
Remove the tool tray.

Attention:
Disconnect the battery only when the ignition is
switched off.
Disconnect the negative battery terminal first, then
the positive terminal.
•
Disconnect both ground leads (5) from the bat-
tery and insulate.
•
Disconnect the positive lead (4) from the battery.
•
Release the fasteners (2) at the battery retaining
plate (1). Take off the battery retaining plate (1).
•
Pull off the battery breather hose (3).
•
Remove battery from holder.
•
Set the battery down on a level surface.
Filling and charging the battery
•
Pull off the battery breather hose (3).
Battery sulphuric acid ......................... Density 1.28
•
Top up the battery acid to the MAX mark.
•
Allow the battery to stand for at least an hour.
•
Shake the battery slightly to allow the remaining
air bubbles to escape.
•
If necessary, top up again to the MAX mark with
battery acid.
•
Charge the battery and allow to stand for 24
hours.
Charge current (A)
......................... 10 % of rated battery capacity (Ah)
•
If necessary, top up the acid level to the MAX
mark with distilled water.
•
Make a note of the charging date on the battery.
•
Clean the battery terminals and grease them with
acid-proof grease.

Make sure that the brake hose pro-
tector (7) is correctly seated.
Make sure that brake fluid hoses (6, 8) are correctly
routed to avoid rubbing.
