•

Secure dial gauge, 

BMW No. 00 2 510

, to dial 

gauge stand.

•

Position dial-gauge stylus on edge of the gear-
wheel and check endplay.

e

 Important:

If endplay is outside the permitted tolerances, this 
indicates either an assembly error or wear in the 
needle roller bearings, the support or spacing wash-
ers or the shift gear. Check for wear and replace the 
affected parts.

Endplay values:
