Tighten the right threaded ring (6).
•
Tighten the left threaded ring (3).
•
Hold left threaded ring (3) with socket wrench,
BMW No. 33 5 642 to prevent it turning and
tighten locking ring (2) with socket,
BMW No. 33 6 641 .
•
Insert circlips (1) at left and right so that the
hooks face outwards.
X
Tightening torque:
Swinging arm to frame
Left and right bearing studs........................ 160 Nm
Right threaded ring .................................... 200 Nm
Left threaded ring......................................... 10 Nm
Counter-ring............................................... 160 Nm
Spring strut to swinging arm......................... 50 Nm
•
Tighten the rear right footrest plate.
– Install the rear wheel drive (
a
33.19).
– Install the brake disc (
a
34.8).
– Install brake caliper (
a
34.5).
– [Without Integral ABS] Install inductive signal
transmitter (
a
61.15).
– Install the rear wheel (
a
36.8).

Removing/installing suspension
strut
– Remove the seat (
a
52.5).
– Remove the right rear side section (
a
46.15).
– Remove the coolant expansion tank
•
Unscrew the upper fastener (arrow).
•
Press the suspension strut upwards.
•
Remove fasteners at bottom (arrow) and lift the
suspension strut up to remove.
X
Tightening torque:
Spring strut to swinging arm ........................ 50 Nm
Spring strut to frame .................................... 43 Nm
– Install the coolant expansion tank.
– Install the right rear side section (
a
46.15).
– Install the seat (
a
52.5).
