Note:
Valid for the following tasks only:
Removing starter/alternator
Removing clutch/gearbox
Removing engine
Remove battery

Remove the seat.
–
Remove the tool tray.
–
Remove the battery retaining plate.
e
Important:
Disconnect the negative battery terminal first, then
the positive terminal.
–
Remove the battery
Remove fairing.
–
Remove left and right fairing side sections
(
a
46.10).
–
Remove the air inlet guide (
a
46.17).
–
Remove the intake air pipe (
a
46.17).
–
Remove the engine spoiler (
a
46.14).
–
[Option pannier case carrier]
Loosen the left/
right pannier case carrier at the front.
–
Remove the left/right rear side sections
(
a
46.15).
–
Remove the front section of the rear carrier (front
section of rear wheel splash guard) and discon-
nect the plug for the power socket (
a
46.7).
Unfasten the exhaust system.
•
Release the retaining hoop at the silencer.
[Additional work for removing engine]
Remove exhaust system
(
a
18.5).
•
Drain engine oil.
•
Disconnect the oil cooler pipes at the intermedi-
ate oil pump flange.
•
Release clamp for oil cooler line from engine
spoiler bracket.
Remove fuel tank
(
a
16.5).
–
Disconnect the plug for the immersion-tube sen-
sor.
–
Disconnect the plug for the fuel pump.

Warning:
Comply with safety precautions when handling or
working with fuel.
–
Disconnect the fuel lines.
–
Release the tank cover fastener.
–
Release the fuel tank fasteners at the frame and
take off the fuel tank.
Remove throttle-valve rail complete with intake
air silencer.
•
Disconnect the plug for the temperature sensor
at the intake air silencer.
•
Release the hose clips for the intake stub pipes,
noting the correct installed position.
•
Pull off the throttle-valve rail complete with intake
air silencer.

Note:
Do not disconnect the throttle cable.
•
Disconnect the hose connection for the crank-
case breather at the crankcase.
•
Disconnect plug for throttle-valve actuator and
plug for switch of cruise-control systems.
•
Secure the throttle-valve rail together with the in-
take air silencer to the frame.
Take off the fuel injection rail.
•
Disconnect the plug for the throttle-valve poten-
tiometer.
•
Disconnect the earth (ground) cable at the throt-
tle-valve rail.
•
Disconnect the fuel hoses at the fuel injection
rail.
•
Disconnect the vacuum hose for the throttle-
valve rail at the fuel injection rail.

Note:
Do not disconnect the throttle cable.
•
Remove the injection rail and secure to frame,
complete with wiring harness, throttle-valve rail
and intake silencer.
