Removing/installing fuel tank

Note:

The immersion-tube sensor has to be calibrated if it
or the fuel tank has been replaced.

–

Remove left and right fairing side sections
(

46.8).

Important:

Disconnect ground lead from battery and insulate.

Warning:

Comply with safety precautions when handling or
working with fuel.

•

Disconnect the fuel hoses at the quick-action
adapters (1).

•

Disconnect the plug for the fuel pump (3).

•

Release the fastener (6) for the tank cover at the
frame.

•

Disconnect the plug for the immersed fuel level
sensor (5).

•

Release the fasteners (4) at the left and right of
the fuel tank. Pull the fuel tank to the rear, away
from rubber mounting (7).

Note:

The vent hoses (2) remain on the fuel tank when it is
removed.

•

Installation is the reverse of the removal proce-
dure.

Tightening torque:

Fuel tank to frame ........................................ 22 Nm
