[Integral ABS] Reservoir filling 

instructions for front wheel circuit

e

 Attention:

Integral brakes, the rear brake must be ready for 
use.

•

Open cap of front wheel-circuit reservoir (1), if 
not already open.

•

Remove brake pads, if not already removed 
(

a

00.42).

•

If necessary, install resetting tools, 

BMW No. 34 1 531

, and 

locators,

BMW No. 34 1 532

, in brake calipers.

•

Install 22 adapters,

BMW No. 34 1 533

, in the 

resetting tools,

BMW No. 34 1 531

, with 

locators,

BMW No. 34 1 532

,

 

in the front brake 

calipers.

•

Clamp the adapter in the resetting tool.

•

Switch on the ignition.

L

 Note:

After switching on the ignition, always wait for the 
BMW Integral ABS to complete its self-diagnosis. 
Do not operate the brake lever until self-diagnosis 
has completed.

•

Gently pull the handbrake lever until the pump 
just starts up.

•

Release the handbrake lever.

•

Top up the front wheel-circuit reservoir (1) to the 

MAX

 mark.

•

Screw the filler bottle, 

BMW No. 34 1 581

, onto 

the front wheel circuit reservoir.

•

Remove the adapter,

BMW No. 34 1 533

, and 

press back the pistons with the reset device until 
the brake pads can be inserted.

•

Install brake pads.

•

Bed in pads with the ignition switched on. 

•

Perform a function check on the brake system 
with the ignition switched on.

•

Switch off the ignition.

•

Remove the filler bottle from the wheel circuit re-
servoir.

•

Screw on the cap of the reservoir (1) hand tight.

e

 Attention:

After all the work on the brake system has been 
completed, run a bleed test using the 

BMW 

MoDiTeC.

•

Performing bleed test with 

BMW

 MoDiTeC
