Important Web Cache considerations
Ensure that you consider the following items when configuring Web Cache:
Web Cache page update required
If you change the IP address for the LAN, WAN, or DIALUP interfaces, you must update the IP
address on the Web Cache page and reset the Proxy Blocked Interfaces. If you do not reset the
Web Cache attributes and Proxy Blocked Interfaces, the Web Cache will not function correctly.
DIALUP interfaces blocking condition
Proxy Blocking of DIALUP interfaces works only if the two BCMs are connected back-to-back
using the DIALUP interface.
Additional IP addresses are not blocked
If you designate additional IP addresses for a supported interface, the additional IP addresses are
not blocked when Proxy Blocked Interfaces is set to that interface. In this case, only the main IP
address is blocked.
Cache Maximum
Life
Allows you to specify the maximum life, in hours, on the proxy server for cached HTTP pages.
Values are
1
to
24
.
The default value is
24
hours.
Maximum Server
Threads
Allows you to specify the number of threads ready to serve HTTP requests in the proxy server.
Values are
5
to
255
.
The default value is
16
threads.
Proxy Blocked
Interfaces
Select the check boxes beside the interfaces on which you want Business Communications
Manager to block the Proxy service.
Security Note
: On Dialup interfaces that have their IP address assigned dynamically, you must
reset the Proxy Block each time the Dialup IP address changes (typically each time you make a
new connection). To reset the Proxy Block on the Dialup interface, clear the
Dialup
check box
and then select the
Dialup
check box.
The default is LAN1 interface selected.
