Probes
Introduction
Only use approved probes.
All imaging probes can be plugged into any of the three probe
ports.
Refer to the
Probes
chapter.
Selecting a probe
S
Always start out with a probe that provides optimum focal
depths and penetration for the patient size and application.
S
Begin the scan session using the default Acoustic Output
setting for the probe and application.
NOTE: Selecting a new probe unfreezes the image.
Connecting the Probe
Probes can be connected at any time, regardless of whether
the console is powered on or off. To ensure that the ports are
not active, place the system in the image freeze condition.
To connect a probe:
1.
Place the probe’s carrying case on a stable surface and
open the case.
2.
Carefully remove the probe and unwrap the probe cord.
3.
DO NOT allow the probe head to hang free. Impact to
the probe head could result in irreparable damage.
4.
Turn the connector locking handle counterclockwise.
