Replacing Components of the Ion Source

Lens/Source Heater



To replace the lens/source heater

1. Shut down your system by following the steps in

“Shutting Down the ISQ 7000 System”

.

2. Remove the analyzer tray from the instrument by following the instructions in

“Removing the Analyzer Tray from the ISQ 7000 Instrument”

3. Lay the source interface board on its side. Remove the four wires connecting the heater

and RTD to the board with a slotted screwdriver.

4. Locate the lens/source heater. Your instrument has two lens/source heaters—one

connected to the lens heater block and one connected to the ion source block.

5. Use a T20 Torxhead screwdriver to remove the two screws connecting the lens/source

heater.

6. Replace the lens/source heater.

7. Attach the heater and RTD wires to the source interface board using a slotted screwdriver.

The heater wires are attached to the cartridge that is clamped in the heater. The RTD
wires are potted in the heater. Be sure these screws are completely tightened to ensure
maximum heat transfer to the ion source block.

8. Once the components are correctly attached to the analyzer tray, follow the instructions

in

“Replacing the Analyzer Tray”
