Tune is interrupted.
Cannot find calibration gas peaks.
Cannot perform detector gain calibration.
Cannot calibrate resolution.
Possible Remedy
Make sure the computer is not set to go into Standby mode while you are acquiring data for your tune. Otherwise, it may interrupt your
tune.
Possible Remedies
Remove and replace the ion source cartridge. See
for instructions.
Check the Air/Water Spectra to confirm the presence of spectra. If none are present, refer to
.
Check the calibrant reservoir and add 100 μL (max) of FC 43, if necessary. See
Maintaining the Calibration Gas Module
for details.
Make sure the EI ion volume and lenses are properly installed and clean.
Make sure the filament is not blown.
Make sure the vacuum is functioning properly.
Make sure the vacuum interlock lever is in the down position.
Make sure the stainless steel tubing inside the manifold is connected to the mixing chamber.
Possible Remedies
Make sure you have an ion signal. The gain tune uses ions, so the system must have a signal to start.
Replace the electron multiplier if the voltage required to generate 3 x 10
5
gain on your electron multiplier is approaching 3000 V.
Run the detector check diagnostic. Troubleshoot any reported failures if the diagnostic fails. Check the detector, feedthrough, and wires for
dust if the diagnostic fails for high noise.
Possible Remedies
Allow contaminants to pump away so they do not interfere with the masses selected for resolution tuning.
Run manual tune to set the RF frequency and save the tune file to the instrument that the AutoTune needs to use to start tuning. Select Air
& Water /Tune from the ISQ 7000 Dashboard to launch ISQ Manual Tune.
Create a starting tune file using manual tune. Select Air & Water /Tune from the ISQ 7000 Dashboard to launch ISQ Manual Tune.
Confirm that the correct ion volume is installed in the instrument. For example, a CI ion volume may cause an EI tune to fail.
Confirm that the calibration gas reservoir has FC 43 present.
Confirm that the Q1 Voltage or Repeller Voltage in the Auto Tune starting tune file are not set too high to cause mass peak broadening.
