INFORMAZIONI GENERALI
SUL SISTEMA INIEZIONE -
ACCENSIONE
L’applicazione di un sistema di
iniezione-accensione a controllo
elettronico ai motori a ciclo otto, ha
reso possibile una utilizzazione
ottimale degli stessi, dando luogo
alla maggiore potenza specifica,
compatibilmente al minor consumo
specifico e alla minor quantità di
elementi incombusti nei gas di
scarico. Questi vantaggi sono stati
ottenuti grazie ad un più corretto
dosaggio del rapporto aria-
carburante e ad una gestione
ottimale dell’anticipo di accensione.
Questo impianto è costituito da tre
circuiti:
Circuito carburante
Circuito aria aspirata
Circuito elettrico.
Influenza del rapporto aria-
carburante e dell’anticipo
accensione
La gestione del rapporto aria-
carburante e dell’anticipo di
accensione è alla base del
funzionamento ottimale del motore.
Il rapporto aria-carburante è dato dal
rapporto, in peso, di aria e di
carburante aspirati dal motore: il
rapporto ideale o stechiometrico, è
quello che determina la
combustione completa. Aria in
eccesso o aria in difetto danno
luogo rispettivamente a miscela
povera o miscela ricca, che
influiscono sulla potenza e sul
consumo (vedi fig. A), oltre che sulle
emissioni dei gas di scarico (vedi fig.
B).
Il controllo elettronico dell’anticipo
dell’accensione permette di
ottimizzare le prestazioni del
motore, la potenza massima, i
consumi e le concentrazioni dei gas
inquinanti allo scarico.
Il controllo elettronico dell’anticipo,
abbinato a quello dell’alimentazione,
permette di realizzare il miglior
funzionamento del motore in tutte
le condizioni di utilizzo (avviamenti a
bassa temperatura, messa in
efficienza, motore in condizioni di
carico parzializzato).
Sistema iniezione-accensione
Marelli (I.A.W.)
Il sistema di iniezione-accensione
Marelli è del tipo “alfa/N”, nel quale
il regime del motore e la posizione
farfalla vengono utilizzati come
parametri principali per misurare la
quantità di aria aspirata; nota la
quantità di aria si dosa la quantità di
carburante in funzione del titolo

DESCRIPTION OF FUEL
INJECTION-IGNITION
SYSTEM
The use of an electronic fuel
injection-ignition system for Otto
cycle engines optimizes engine
performance and creates higher
specific power, as well as lower
specific consumption and a
reduction in the amount of unburnt
elements in the exhaust gases.
These advantages are the result of
an improved air-fuel mixture and
optimal control of the ignition
advance.
This system consists of three
circuits:
Fuel circuit
Intake air circuit
Electrical circuit.
Influence of the air-fuel
mixture and of the advance
Correct use of the air-fuel mixture
and of the advance is fundamental
for optimal functioning of the
engine.
The air-fuel mixture is given by the
ratio, in weight, of air and fuel taken
in by the engine: the ideal or
stoichiometric ratio is that which
establishes complete combustion.
Excessive air or insufficient air give
rise to, respectively, a lean (or weak)
mixture or a rich mixture, which
affect the power and the
consumption (see fig. A), as well as
emissions of exhaust gases (see fig.
B).
Electronic control of the advance
makes it possible to optimize the
performance of the engine, the
maximum power and the
consumption and concentrations of
exhaust pollutants.
Electronic control for the ignition
advance and fuel supply allows for
optimal functioning of the engine
under all conditions of use (low
temperature starts, tuning, engine
with partial load).
Marelli injection-ignition
system (I.A.W.)
The Marelli injection-ignition system
is the Alfa/N type, in which the
engine speed and throttle position
are used as main parameters for
measuring the quantity of intake air;
if the quantity of air is known, the
quantity of fuel is dosed in
accordance with the required
mixture. Other sensors in the
system (engine, atmospheric
pressure, air temperature and
coolant temperature sensors and
idle trimmer) can be used to adjust
the basic engine control strategy, as
a function of operating conditions.
