Using PinSite
If you want to program devices that are programmable with the PinSite
Module, the PinSite Module must first be installed in UniSite-xpi. See the
section “Installing PinSite in UniSite-xpi” for installation instructions.
If the PinSite Module is installed in UniSite-xpi at powerup, one of the
following messages appears on the first UniSite-xpi screen:
FSM: PinSite V01 w PLCC/LCC Base
FSM: PinSite V01 w PGA Base
FSM: PinSite V01 w SOIC Base
FSM: PinSite V01 w PPI Base
FSM: PinSite V01 w PGA PSBASE-0402 Base
FSM: PinSite V01 w PGA PSBASE-0302 Base
FSM: PinSite V01 w unknown Base
Unknown Base
can mean either no Base has been installed or an
unidentified Base has been installed. This may mean that your software
needs to be updated to support a new type of Base or there is a problem
with your PinSite.
Conductive Pad Care
The conductive pad, shown in Figure A-21, is a key element in the
MatchBook technology. Keeping the pad free of dirt or contamination
will help keep yields high and prolong the life of the pad. We recommend
that you inspect and clean the pad at least once every 1000 insertions or
once a month, whichever comes first.
Note: After a number of insertions you may notice an indentation in the middle
of the conductive pad. The indentation is normal and does not degrade the
performance of the MatchBook.
The life of the pad is dependent on proper care as well as the pin count
and package type of the device being used. Not all devices have the same
tolerances, and each device type may result in different life cycles for the
pad.
An increase in device insertion errors or continuity errors, or a sudden
drop in programming yields may indicate that the pad needs to be
cleaned or replaced.
