Address out of range.
The address you tried to select is beyond the selected device’s range. Select an address that is within the
limits of the device, or select a different device. This message appears while you are in memory editor,
fuse editor, or using the under/overblow feature.
Algorithm files recovered.
The algorithm file transfer operation has failed and original algorithm files have been recovered. This is
due to a non-fatal feature: for example, C
TRL
+ Z have been pressed or there is no disk in drive A.
Algorithm files not recovered.
The algorithm file transfer operation has failed, but original algorithm files have not been recovered. You
should format your Mass Storage Module’s hard disk on the Format Disk screen, then perform the
operation again.
Algorithm revision is not compatible with system software.
This message will appear if you are using the wrong version of the algorithm files.
If you are using an algorithm disk, remove the disk and check the version number on it. The programmer
requires that the Boot and Algorithm disks be of the same software version (both V2.0, for example).
If you are using algorithm files stored in the Mass Storage Module, perform the Mass Storage operation on
the Configure screen to update the algorithm files in the Mass Storage Module, then try again.

This message appears when you have selected an Altera POF device and attempt a data transfer operation,
such as a download, without having selected the POF data translation format. Select the POF format as the
data translation format and try the operation again.
ASCII entry not allowed in 4-bit mode.
This message appears in the memory editor when you attempt to go into ASCII entry mode when a 4-bit
device is selected. Re-select device or edit in hex mode only.
Bad algorithm data.
An error was detected with the algorithm disk. Use another copy of the algorithm disk and repeat the
operation.
