Note: When you insert a PGA device into the PGA Base, pay particular
attention to the orientation and positioning of the device.
1.
Install the PGA Base into the programmer.
2.
Unlock the PGA socket by lifting up on the socket lever.
3.
Insert the device into the PGA socket. Make sure the PGA device is
bottom justified and that pin 1 of the device is against the left side of
the socket. Figure 2-15 shows the proper alignment of a PGA device.
4.
Push the socket lever down to lock the PGA device into the PGA
socket.
Note: Figure 2-15 shows the socket lever attached at the lower left. On some
bases, the socket lever may be attached at a different point.
Inserting Devices
into a PPI Adapter
The PPI system consists of one Base for each programmer, and
exchangeable adapters. These PPI adapters accept a variety of device
package types and pin configurations. The following figures show three
common device packages and the proper device orientation in the
adapter. Each adapter has an ICON showing the proper device
orientation.
