Installation Manual

Equipment Installation

Overview

Introduction

This section covers the general requirements and methods for installing the 
WaveStar

TM

 OLS 40G equipment bay frames or 40G cabinet and its associated 

cable rack and end guard assemblies. It also covers the requirements and 
methods for installing the Optical Translator equipment bay frames or cabinet and 
the installation of miscellaneously mounted OT and OLS. The cabinetized version 
of both the OT and the WaveStar OLS 40G use the same cabinet components as 
the 5ESS-2000.

Each bay is shipped with its wired shelves assembled, but without the circuit 
packs in place. Circuit packs are shipped separately for their protection.

Objectives

This chapter provides the following information:

Layout and drilling of mounting holes

b.

Uncrating equipment bays

c.

Moving equipment bays to mounting position

d.

Erecting and mounting the frame

e.

Connecting the frame to building ground

f.

Installing associated bay frame assembly parts

Customer 
Installation 
Requirements

The WaveStar OLS 40G equipment bay frames or cabinets may be mounted on 
either concrete or raised floors and may accept power and network connections 
from either above or below the frames.

The customer is responsible for engineering the site in accordance with the 
WaveStar OLS 40G system engineering guidelines and determining the seismic 
rating for the location.
