Connecting SONET/SDH Systems to WaveStar OLS
40G

Connect Optical Line System to
SONET/SDH/1-Gb Ethernet
(Continued)

Ethernet Receivers

Add Additional
Wavelengths

Step

Action

Connect the optical power meter to the output of the 41B, 41E, or 41G
OTU, and 42B, 43B, or 44B OTPM.

Requirement

: 0.0 to 2.0 dBm.

Connect a fiber jumper to the output of the OTU/OTPM.

At the SONET/SDH/1-Gb Ethernet receiver end of the jumper from the
OTU/OTPM, measure and adjust the level as appropriate for the SONET/
SDH system.

Verify the SONET/SDH/1-Gb Ethernet loss of signal clears when the
jumper is connected at the appropriate level.

Step

Action

Repeat the appropriate sections of this chapter for all remaining
wavelengths (channels) being installed.

Proceed to System Verification: page 11-14 when all wavelengths have
been installed.
