Powering

Background

Introduction

This chapter describes the procedures to power WaveStar™ OLS 40G Equipment
and to power the Optical Translator equipment.

General
Considerations

Disconnect the office alarms from the WaveStar OLS 40G Network Element
before performing any tests. Reconnect the office alarms upon test completion.

Tools, Test Sets and
Accessories

The following equipment is required to complete the procedures in this section:

Analog Ohm Meter for measuring resistance of Battery Return cable.

Multimeter capable of measuring resistance (ohms) and DC voltage from
–40 to –60 volts.

Wrist strap connected to the wrist strap ground jack of the user panel for
ESD protection.
