Step Action Reference
1 Clean and then connect fiber assigned to 2B OA IN to an
optical power meter through attenuated test cable. Use
Test point 1S. Figure 10-6
on page
10-29
2 Clean and then connect the other end of the jumper
above to its assigned LGX location.
3 Select an OA IN LBO based on the measured power and
the number of OC-48 wavelengths (channels) present. See LBO
Selection
Procedures.
4 Install the appropriate LBO in 2B OA IN connector if
necessary.
5 Connect the jumper to the 2B OA IN connector.
Requirement: The 2B OA FAULT LED shall stop
flashing within 1 minute.
6 Clean and then connect 2B OA OUT to an optical power
meter through attenuated test cable. Use Test point 2S. Figure 10-6
on page
10-29
7 Verify the OA Output Power by referring to the table. Table 10-4 on
page 10-11
8 For 7-8 span applications, install a 3dB LBO in the OA
2B OUT. Clean and then connect the jumper from OA 2B
OUT to the LGX. Use Test point 2S. Figure 10-6
on page
10-29
9 For safety purposes, the APSD feature must be
ENABLED. Enter the SECURITY.Enter.System
command at this time to ENABLE the APSD.
10 If the next office is a Repeater, Repeat this section of the
chapter.
If the next office is the DS-NE, go to the DS-NE receive
OA connection procedure.
