About This Document

Purpose of This Section

Introduction

This manual provides instructions for installation, turn-up and testing of the 
WaveStar™

 

OLS 40G (Optical Line System). 

This manual is not a service manual. Refer to 365-575-387, WaveStar™ OLS 
40G User/Service Manual, for any activity involving circuit turn-up, regular 
maintenance, or trouble analysis. Refer to 365-575-388, WaveStar™ OLS 40G 
Operations Systems Engineering Guide, or for any activity using X.25 (TL-1 
commands).

Reason for Reissue

The purpose of this document is to allow an installer to install, turn up, and test an 
out-of-service WaveStar OLS 40G System. It is being reissued to cover Release 
7. This document includes updated information and clarifications for all Release 7 
applications. Information on the new hardware and hardware features is also 
presented.

Intended 
Audience

This installation manual is for personnel who will install WaveStar OLS 40G 
equipment. It emphasizes Release 7 practices and procedures where the 
WaveStar OLS 40G consists of OLS and OT as an integrated system or where 
the OLS is stand-alone system.
