Follow the procedures in the table below to insert the Transmission Circuit Packs:
NOTE:
To prevent potential damage to the Optical Amplifiers, connect the fiber to
the “IN” and “OUT” ports before seating these packs into the shelf
NOTE:
After Optical Amplifier circuit packs have been inserted it may be necessary
to remove the fiber jumper before unseating the unit.
Step Action Reference
1 At end terminal offices insert the OMU/ODU packs and
tighten the captive screws if they have not already been
seated.
2 Seat the transmission packs into the shelf or shelves.
These packs include OAs, TLMs, and OTUs.
Requirement: Verify that all the FAULT LEDs are
extinguished, except for the LEDs on OA circuit packs.
NOTE:
At an End Terminal or Dual Facing Shelf, the OA
circuit packs functioning as receivers will be
flashing because there is no optical signal input.
At a Repeater, all of the OA circuit pack FAULT
LEDs will be flashing.
3 Execute a Configuration>Update>System command.
4 Execute a Fault>Retrieve>Condition>All command. This
will view all of the alarms present on the system.
Requirement: Verify the alarms shown.
