The table below lists the procedure for testing miscellaneous discrete alarms:

Enable the Serial Telemetry Port by selecting the
following command through the CMC.
SECURITY.Enter.Channel_Identifier.Security.

In the AID box select, SER_TLM1, in the PORTACC box
click on enable.

NOTE:

If a SER-TLM alarm comes on after enabling the
port, communications is not being made with the
EMDU (DANTEL or Harris). Check that the serial
telemetry cable from the EMDU is connected to
the SER TLM 1 port of the WaveStar OLS 40G.
Check that the WaveStar OLS 40G end terminal
that is receiving the Serial Telemetry cable has
been activated. Verify wiring and switch setting at
the EMDU. Check that EMDU is powered.

Verify the WaveStar OLS 40G is alarm free using the
command FAULT.Retreive.Condition - ALL

If environmental alarms exist, clear the environmental
alarms before proceeding.

NOTE:

The presence of an environmental alarm indicates
that the alarm wiring has a short. Locate and
repair short.

on page 9-31.
