When initializing the EM card:
Initializing the EM card clears all the vIO information stored in EM card. If any running blade
servers exist, the vIO information of those servers is removed from the EM card. For how the
conflict occurs and how to avoid it, see the description below and examples in Figure 3.
1) Initialize the EM card while the virtual MAC (A) is applied to the blade server
installed in blade slot No. 3 of Blade Enclosure.
2) Apply the virtual MAC (A) to the blade server installed in blade slot No. 4, then run
the server.
In Step 1, all the information related to vIO Control feature is removed from EM card. If the same
configuration as used in Step 1 (virtual MAC (A)) is applied to another server (in blade slot No. 4)
in this state, the EM card cannot detect a conflict of vIO information. Thus, the two servers run with
the same configuration.
To avoid a conflict of vIO information, after initialization of EM card, restart the blade server on
which the vIO information has been applied before setting vIO Control feature. Alternatively,
disable the vIO Control feature before initializing EM card, or power off all the blade servers which
are using the vIO Control feature.
