UPS Management
The EM card monitors the status of UPSs supplying power to the Blade Enclosure in which the EM
card is installed. In addition, the EM card shuts down CPU blades if supplying AC power to the
specified number of UPSs is interrupted.
NOTES:
To shutdown the CPU blade automatically, your OS must be able to
shutdown with the Power button.
If the CPU blade is unable to be shutdown with the Power button,
this feature will not shutdown the system. See the topic "Unable to
shutdown the OS by UPS Management feature or Power Linkage
with NAS Blade feature" in the Troubleshooting Chapter.
The EM card supports 10 UPS listed below.
200VAC: 5000VA-UPS [N8142-24A]
5000VA-UPS [N8142-35]
8000VA-UPS [N8142-25]
8000VA-UPS [N8142-25A]
100VAC: 1500VA-UPS [N8142-23A]
2400VA-UPS [N8142-38]
3000VA-UPS [N8142-42]
3000VA-UPS [N8142-11B]
3000VA-UPS [N8142-29]
3000VA-UPS [N8142-31]
Maximum power consumption management is not available when
using automatic CPU blade boot after UPS power recovery.
The CPU blade can be automatically booted when the power supply to the UPS is recovered.
Cooling Fan Management
While the CPU blade is powered on, the amount of necessary cooling air changes according to the
temperature condition. The EM card determines the rotation speed of the fan according to the
installed number of fan units and others, and controls the fan so that it rotates in optimum speed.
NOTE:
Depending on the installed number of fan units and CPU
blades, when the EM card judges that the cooling capacity is
insufficient, it may not permit the power-on of CPU blade. In such a
case, check the fan units and CPU blades so that they are appropriately
installed.
