VMware ESX 4.0
Start the vSphere Client. Select a host machine from the tree at left, and then
double-click [Configuration] in the pane at right.
Select [Virtual Machine Startup/Shutdown].
Click [Properties] at the upper right of the screen.
Put a checkmark on [Allow virtual machines to start and stop automatically with
the system].
On the screen to specify the boot order, move the virtual machine below the item
[Automatic startup].
Click [OK].
With this setting, the host OS can shutdown after the guest OS has shutdown
normally.
* The guest OS must have VMware Tools installed.
* Validated on vSphere Client Version 4.0 and VMware® ESX Version 4.0.
"Reconfiguration failed" or "Reconfiguration skipped" appears on vIO Information List:
Power off the blade server, then reconfigure it according to the following
procedure.
1. Apply [default] of boot config.
2. Power on the blade server, then restart it after the OS has started (or upon
completion of POST if the server has no OS installed).
3. Run BIOS SETUP, select [Load Setup Default], and select [Advanced] - [Reset
Configuration Data]- [Yes]. Then, select [Save and Exit].
4. Shutdown the blade server after the OS has started (or upon completion of
POST if the server has no OS installed).
5. Setup the boot config file again.
If you fail to apply the boot config file configured in Step 5, the blade server or
option card may be faulty.
