If you intend to relocate the EM card with vIO Control being enabled to any other Blade
Enclosure, vIO information may conflict with others. In such a case, change them to the
unique ones.
It is recommended to setup vIO Control feature before building a system (installing OS).
If you restore the EM configuration file including enabled vIO Control feature to the
Blade Enclosure in which the blade server is running, be sure to view the Boot Control
screen on Web console. If any blade servers are indicated as "Please (re)boot", reboot the
relevant servers.
Initializing the EM configuration file clears vIO information. However, the actual settings
made on blade server are deleted during POST performed at startup of the blade server. If
you intend to initialize the EM configuration file for the Blade Enclosure that contains any
running blade server, care must be taken.
If the EM card restarts or switchover occurs while applying the boot config, setup vIO
Control feature again after restart of the EM card or completion of switchover.
If the boot config is applied immediately after the reboot or occurrence of switchover, the
EM card may fail to accept it due to much load.
After you have applied the boot config (including [default]) and power on the server, do
not power off or reboot (Ctrl + Alt + Del) the server until POST has been completed. If
you did such operation, take an appropriate measure according to Chapter 7
"Troubleshooting".
The MAC addresses for management LAN of EXPRESSSCOPE Engine cannot be
virtualized.
Even if vIO Control feature is used, the MAC addresses displayed on BIOS menu and
Web console of EXPRESSSCOPE Engine are the factory-set values, not the vIO
information.
If you replace the blade server that supports vIO Control feature (e.g., B120a, B120a-d,
AD106a, or others) with the server that does not support vIO Control feature (e.g.,
120Bb-6 or others), be sure to perform the following procedure before replacement.
1. Power off the blade server.
2. Apply [default] of Boot Config on EM Web console.
3. Power on the blade server, then shut it down after the OS has started (or upon
completion of POST if the server has no OS installed).
4. Replace the blade server.
There are a few restrictions of using the vIO Control feature on the system that is under
NEC SigmaSystemCenter control. Please contact the sales person for detailed
information.
