4.2.7 Connection States
The R&S
CMW supports different states of call setups. The corresponding connection
states and transitions are described in this section.
The term "signaling" summarizes all procedures necessary for call setup and release,
and for control of a connection in the mobile radio network. In the case of the
R&S
CMW, a distinction is made between four different signaling states.
A number of control commands which can be initiated both by the R&S
CMW (Call initi-
ated from the R&S
CMW) and by the mobile station (Call initiated from MS) switch
between these states:
MS states
Description
Off
No signal transmission / no connection to the MS.
On
The R&S
CMW emulates a BS cell, transmitting a CDMA2000 signal to which the MS
can synchronize. The R&S
CMW generates a control channel signal (BS Signal) to
which an MS can synchronize.
Paging
A transitory state indicating that the R&S
CMW attempts a connection but no traffic
channel is active yet.
Alerting
Displayed during the call setup ("Registered" or "On" --> "MS Connected") after the
MS has started alerting.
Registered
Registration of the MS with the BS.
Connected
Call established between MS and BS.
A number of control commands initiated by the R&S
) or by the MS switch between the listed states. The following figure
shows possible state transitions. Dashed lines correspond to actions initiated by the
MS, solid lines to actions initiated by the R&S
CMW. The "Disconnect 1st SO" action
can be initiated by both. In addition to the shown transitions, the "Off" state can be
reached from any state by switching off the signal.
