Forward Link Packet Error Rate Measurement
The R&S
CMW can perform several forward link PER measurements in parallel.
Carrier Selection
When performing multi-carrier measurements (revision B, option R&S CMW-KS881)
the R&S
CMW collects data for every individual carrier. The carrier whose results shall
be displayed can be selected/changed at any time. Its number is displayed in the top
right corner of the "RX measurement" dialog.
Aggregate results per carrier (e.g. over all possible data rates or packet sizes) are pre-
fixed by the word "total"; aggregates over all carriers are prefixed by the word "compo-
site". Limit checking can be performed either per carrier or over all carriers.
Forward Link PER is the percentage of test packets transmitted on the forward traffic
channel that the AT failed to receive successfully.
While the forward test application is running, the R&S
CMW transmits FTAP/FETAP/
FMCTAP test packets, filled with PRBS data. The AT demodulates the packets and
reports reception in dedicated loop back packets.
For multi-carrier tests (revision B, physical layer subtype 3) PER statistics are collected
and displayed both for the individual carriers and for all active carriers (column "Com-
posite").

PER
The forward link PER is the percentage of FTAP/FETAP/FMCTAP test packets trans-
mitted on the forward traffic channel(s) that the AT failed to receive successfully:
FL PER = (1 – TestPacketsReceived / TestPacketsSent) x 100 %
