Handoff includes:
1. Selection of the destination band class
2. Configuration of carrier(s and pilots) in the destination sector.
3. Start of the handoff process.
After successful handoff, the connection is continued with the target sector replacing
the source sector.
2.2.8 Inter-RAT Handover
An inter-RAT handover is a handover/redirect from one radio access technology to
another. From the R&S
CMW perspective this requires to emulate cells for both radio
access technologies in parallel.
The 1xEV-DO signaling application currently supports a (non-optimized) redirect from
LTE to 1xEV-DO.
To prepare a handover, the related signaling applications must be configured on differ-
ent RF paths and a connection must be set up in the source RAT. Then, in the "Hand-
over" dialog of the source RAT, the destination RAT must be selected as handover
"Target". As a result, the "Target" signaling application is loaded (if necessary) and
requested to bring the cell in "Ready for Handover" state. If successful, the cell icon in
the handover dialog indicates "RDY".
