Installation Manual

System Installation Planning

Wavelength Usage

Requirements

There are no specific requirements for wavelength equipage on the WaveStar
OLS 40G. Wavelengths may be equipped in any random order and wavelengths
do not have to be equipped the same in opposite directions.

Guidelines

The following wavelength guidelines will assist in maintaining OC-48/OC-12/
OC-3, STM-16/STM-4/STM-1, and 1-Gb Ethernet WaveStar OLS 40G networks:

■

Both directions of the OC-48/STM-16, OC-12/STM-4, OC-3/STM-1, or 1-
Gb Ethernet system should be equipped on the same wavelength through
an OLS.

■

An OC-48/STM-16, OC-12/STM-4, OC-3/STM-1 or 1-Gb Ethernet system
(ring or linear) should use the same wavelength on each OLS between the
OC-48/STM-16, OC-12/STM-4, or OC-3/STM-1 nodes.
